Famed for its super abundance of pine trees and wild flora, Alonissos is an island offering a striking natural scenery. The quaint Town of Patitiri, the island’s capital, with its two main streets, is perfect for walking around. Alonissos is big on pies, so hit one of the local bakeries while you are at it, to fuel up before heading to the beach. For some extra authenticity, the sleepy village of Palio Horio is a great choice for strolling around and sipping coffee with the locals at the main square. Agios Dimitrios, Glyfa and Leftos Gialos are excellent seaside choices. For some Alonissos uniqueness, head to Kokkinokastro a beach backed by some amazing reddish cliffs, overlooking a petite island named Kokkinonisi, which literally translates into red island. Speaking of uniqueness, Alonissos is the home of the Mediterranean monk seal Monachus Monachus and has its own National Marine Park. If you feel like exploring some caves, then the tiny islands of Gioura and Piperi await. If you feel like munching, then note that tuna fish is in its natural habitat in Alonissos, so try some when you spot it on menus. It is super fresh and extra tasty! Astrofeggia, Fanari and Eleonas are some great restaurants to enjoy your meals.
